In your first treatment a detailed case history is taken and a traditional Chinese diagnosis is made. You will be asked about your condition and about all aspects of your health and your medical history. The acupuncturist will take your pulse and look carefully at your tongue, because these can give indications about your internal organ energy system. A number of acupuncture points are selected according to the diagnosis, and the needles are inserted and left in place for 20 – 30 minutes.
The first treatment takes about an hour; subsequent sessions take about 45 minutes, although the time needed may vary.
