Does it hurt?

Acupuncture needles are not much thicker than a human hair. Most of the time you won’t even know when the needles have been inserted. Some points can be sensitive to needle insertion, but with good communication between practitioner and patient is often enough to make the experience more comfortable.

As the needle is stimulated, sensations may be felt such as a dull ache, mild shooting sensation or tingling. These are usually not uncomfortable and most patients find the treatments relaxing and some even fall asleep.
